Who hasn’t dreamt of getting lost in the Alfama? Its narrow lanes and many staircases invite the passer-by into a world of dreams. On the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, this district of Lisbon, gorged in light, provokes the memory of never-ending walks. Four Belgian musicians, recalling the colours of the Alfama in their music, have come together to devote themselves to chamber music and created, in 2005, the Alfama Quartet.
With perseverance and diligence, the Quartet pursues its musical ambitions under the expert guidance of the Danel Quartet and with the financial support of the French-speaking community of Belgium. Since its creation, the Quartet performs regularly in Belgium and abroad.
